Ruby Resort 2019

No matter the weather, the anticipation of a sun-soaked holiday is never too far away at RUBY. For Resort 2019, Creative Director Deanna Didovich presents Local Honey, a gulp of fresh air and optimism centred on something known: the idyllic New Zealand summer. For Deanna, this is her favourite season; her memories filled with sunny days at the Coromandel. Located between the backyard and the beach, and played out in tangy colours and freer silhouettes, Local Honey is simple, vibrant and uplifting.

This joyful spectacular – full of lightly poetic, playful daywear – serves a palette of fresh and clean citrus hues. Sorbet lemon, apple, and grape sherbet, soft candyfloss and zesty greens. All delicious colours echoing the sentiment of a never-ending summer, with softly retro fabrications hinting at lazy days in a holiday bach. Everything less strict, more upbeat, and with a little more charm.

An optimistic and colourful floral, the Bettina print is the headliner this season; vibrant watercolour florals painted across an asymmetrical cut-out gown and sleeveless slip dress.

When the beach becomes your second home this summer, you’ll want to be living in RUBY swim – the first swimwear collection from RUBY. A scoop neck one piece, a bandeau and asymmetrical crop, and high-waisted bottoms, all in the colourful Bettina floral. Made from ECONYL® regenerated nylon, a fabric created from recycled fishing nets and nylon waste; feel good about swimwear that has helped to clean the oceans.

In a season that’s brimming with upbeat daywear, this collection also serves compelling options for the evening. Sitting pretty in satin, the Paloma halter-neck wrap top and maxi dress bring undiluted glamour.

We’re committed to building a more responsible production cycle, which includes the materials we use in our collections. In Local Honey, 20% of the fabrics used are sustainable fibres, meaning they've been traced back to source or certified. This 20% includes silk, GOTS-certified cotton and linen, ECONYL® regenerated nylon and European Flax®. Here, the belief is that fashion should also serve the concerns around us, humanity, and our planet.

And as a New Zealand brand, RUBY is supporting local this season. Local Honey refers to RUBY’s newest homegrown partner, Bees Up Top, urban beekeepers who rescue and re-home bees. Honey bees are the world’s most important pollinator of seeded fruits and vegetables – it is estimated that one third of the food consumed daily relies on pollination mainly by bees. With a recently launched beehive at RUBY’s Head Office, stay tuned for a few bee-friendly activities from the brand this summer.

First arrivals in store and online from Friday 15th November, 2019.
